Monumental Muscadet (and Pinot!) - Dinner with Winemaker Fred Niger

  • Fort Defiance 365 Van Brunt St Brooklyn, NY, 11231 United States

Please join us on Wednesday, March 4 for an evening of some of the most exciting and mysterious wines from the Loire Valley, courtesy of winemaker Fred Niger. In 2011, Niger took over the iconic Domaine de l'Ecu from the man nearly everyone considers the greatest living maker of Muscadet, Guy Bossard. Niger continues to make Bossard's trio of superb, soil specific whites—Gneiss, Orthogneiss and Granite—made from vines a half-century old and certified organic and biodynamic for nearly that long. He has also begun to bottle a range of remarkable reds; he will pour Rednoz, his brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon, and for the first time in New York, he will introduce Ange, which may be the greatest Pinot Noir outside Burgundy. Back vintages of the Muscadets will be poured from magnum, and Niger promises a surprise from Bossard's cellar. The wines will served alongside a five course menu from executive chef Matthew Fleming. (see below).

Tickets are $95 for table seats, $90 for seats at the bar, and are available at Eventbrite.
